Rather than a bizarre operation to change your arm function, it looks like Potts has finally ditched the old school Obo elbow pads and switched to one of the newer versions (this one came out about 8 years ago now lol!). As a proper kit nerd, I like to pay attention to these things and the greater flexibility that the newer design allows, wrapping round the shoulder and moving with the arm should make glove saves greater in functionality. The minor details can be important and the motion of glove saves bettered by this could be an interesting difference maker in ground saves and glove saves.
