EHL weekend review

In the effort of continuing coverage of England's elite league, here's some more.

Prem
Beeston continue their attempt at world domination with a 15 (!) point lead over any competition. Canterbury's drubbing at the hands of Reading (8-1) sees them leap frog the Kent side to second place for the all important Euro playoffs later in the year. They beat EG 6-1 on Saturday and then 7-4 against Loughborough. Conceding 4 seems like they need to tighten up the defence though even if they can score so freely. Personally I'd like to see how Stubbings bounces back after a scoreline like that as defeats like that can be tough to digest. Bailey seems to be building on his potential with some athletic stops.

Southgate had the comeback of the season so far after going down by two to Brooklands, recovering to a 4-2 win, as they search to avoid relegation. EG bounced back with a close win over Hampstead today (as reported about already!). And Surbiton held Cannock to a draw (or was it vice versa?!).

East
Richmond look like they'll be facing the drop after gaining promotion this past season as they were shut out in a 4-0 loss to Cambridge. Indian Gym continue to rise off the bottom of the table as they got a surprising win against top of the table Wimbledon (not sure who was in goal, with the notable signing of Alexander).Old Louts drew away against Brom & Beck, whilst Holcombe continue their patchy run of form in a loss against Peterborough.

West
Havant rose to just outside mid-table after a draw at Cheltenham. Guildford remain top with a three point lead after beating Bristol, the bottom side making it a tougher game than expected. Cardiff still challenge them after a win over Fareham. Birmingham drew with Whitchurch, doing little to change their table position.

North
Bowdon continue their push for promotion with a win over Olton. Doncaster thrashed Preston and Belper got turned over.
