Pinner utilising deeper depth in indoor

With Hockey TV uploading new videos of the EHL indoor season on their Youtube feed, it was possible to get a look see at how the goalkeepers had been performing. What was interesting to note, was Pinner's depth in the D on short corners. Making use of the same deep set-up within the D as he uses in outdoor games, he barely comes off the line, intending to react rather than charge down a flick.

As you can see in this video, at 2:36 playing time:

It's not a new technique, with Old Louts keeper Stuart Hendy using the move, as has Allan Dick, but it's not that popular! It obviously offers a different approach and options, as the opposition are expecting a run-out from the goalkeeper, but I'd like to see more goalies making use of it possibly as I think it could work against flicks near the goalkeeper (maybe?!?!). And it's always worth experimenting to see what does work after all! Interesting to see how useful it would be over a campaign and the success rate as a goalkeeper theoretically can react with reflexes/reactions and athleticism to attempt a stop not otherwise possible when charging down an indoor corner.

The following video shows Scotland's Allan Dick using a deep depth as well:

Here's Hendy at 1:07 playing time staying very deep to make some saves in quick succession from an upright position; making a clear stamp as he steps out to indicate he's moved past the goal line!
