Wimbledon are another side that have added to their goalkeeping depth chart. This will be an interesting case of man management as they make sure they can keep hold of, and keep them happy, the goalkeepers at their disposable. Both goalkeepers have considerable experience, with Bailey pipping Millington at the post with international experience, but both have been around the national league to speak with a depth of game experience, as shown by Tom in his season that led to Exeter's promotion in his time there; a key member of the squad at that time. Either way, Wimbo are in a fortunate position with equally strong goalkeepers to turn to, though with Millington's injury last season, hopefully this won't be the case again.
Goalkeepers:
Incoming - James Bailey from Reading
Outgoing - Chris Baker leaves for Southgate to back-up Allan Dick
Predicted starter:
James Bailey should expectedly get the starts coming in as being the starter with the Ding and with their EHL runs in European competitition, barring international training camps or appearances. With Tom there, Wimbo have a good alternative to turn to, but it will be interesting to see how they 'ride the hot hand' and make sure both goalkeepers are sharp should there be a switch up relating to the central system.
Predicted season outcome:
Wimbledon have made a few changes in the squad, with a few key signings coming in for outfield positions, seeing the side look to strengthen and move up the table in search of European hockey. With this in mind, I can see them pushing for a top four position after a strong campaign the season past.
Millington, who helped Wimbo to their promotion to the Prem, is more than likely to face a battle of wills with Bailey for playing time.
