Having survived the trial by fire of their first ever national league season, Brighton also kept save through the relegation playoffs, and will be looking to build off their experiences to climb the East conference season this time round. Avoiding automatic relegation (which was St. Albans instead), the seaside side play well as a unit, based around a strong defensive key, which allowed them to beat league winners Southgate in one game and seemingly 'punch above their weight' in the eyes of other clubs. Whilst other teams have strengthened, especially Holcombe, or lost key players, Brighton can be sure to make any opponent fight for their points.
Goalkeepers:
Predicted starter:
Another default rather than predicted, choice, Dave is the undisputed starter going in to his second national league season. In the tradition of incumbent choice, he also made a number of standout saves that helped his side come away with the points, like their last game of the season against Oxted away. Making a few changes to his kit to play to his athletic and reflex abilities, Dave also matured as a commanding presence in his D throughout his first debut season in the national league.
Predicted season outcome:
The East division of the national league is a tightly contested arena as proven in the last few seasons, bunched together more tightly in points than the West or North conferences, so for Brighton, it will be another fight to stay up, but they will go in knowing they are capable and deserving of finishing higher than last season, and sticking to a tight defensive style as they did last season will help slow down the pace against their opponents and play to their advantage, with Dave providing appropriate saves at suitable times.
