Forrester adding to Scotland's depth

David Forrester offers Scotland further options in goal. Whilst England have Bailey, Stubbings and Smith to fight over the future, with Scanlon and Potton having played for England A, Scotland are incredibly stacked with goalkeepers all getting national league opportunities, which means the future is bright for them but also a challenge as competition will be incredibly tight for getting the starting position. Allan Dick is the starter after McGregor's retirement. And James Cachia is the starter at Sheffield Hallam but featured in his place in some international games.

But many youngsters are coming through for Scotland in goal, with former U21's goalkeeper Tommy Alexander getting national league opportunities after moving to Indian Gym, Phil Carr is holding onto the first team shirt after finishing his studies at Loughborough and youngster Forrester is playing with Edinburgh amongst this. Not forgetting Blair Fotheringham! Mark Folton covered the starting spot in international action about a year ago, with Carr getting his first cap at full international level shortly afterwards in the placement tournament for the Olympics I think.

Forrester is a student at Edinburgh and has been their starter for the time he has been studying there (I think!), playing in the Scottish national league with them. He has experience playing in the GBSL (Great Britain Super League which is used by coaches to help scout players for England A, B etc. and full GB squad etc.) on top of this. I'm not exactly sure how the EHL compares to the Scottish national league, but regardless, getting the start at a young age is crucial for game experience and is giving him the chance to prove his worth and build up credentials.
