Kindler's switch to Brabo

Aside from the milage of content that I need to upload at some point covering the HWL (health still not helping!), it was interesting to see Canada's Antoni Kindler now wearing Brabo foam whilst at the tournament. It looks like he's made the full switch, with both gloves worn as well as leg guards and kickers. Having previously worn TK kit, with the new synergy range out, it's interesting to note due to the old school approach with the leg guard design and a springy, yet traditional foam (no D3O used here!).

With this switch, Antoni joins a growing number of elite level goalkeepers wearing Brabo at the highest level at the international stage; Spack for Germany included, Australian Lovell goalkeeper Brabo and obviously Belgian starlet Vanasch.

This is pretty interesting as it just goes to show that even world class grouped goalies can be inspired to switch from the other goalies they train with! In the world of the bright lights and subliminal fame (well, as much as can be gained from our sport at least!), it might look like athletes , but as it happens, they're pretty clued up on kit and always looking to improve and tinker with kit to get the most out of it, say for reaction saves against powerful shots and so on. So changing kit and more importantly chatting about it, is still very topical for high level goalies.

Goalkeeping team mate Kevin Pereira had started wearing Brabo, in training with the Canadian men's team, as well as a stint in Australia and with his domestic club, and I can only assume it caught Kindler's interest and he borrowed them before fully committing to the change.

You can see him in Brabo at around the halfway mark in this clip, but

  1. Brabo has increased it's activities in sponsoring goalkeepers as well, Alvaro Floranes Elorza is also an example of this (R.S. Tenis, Spain)
