Poland's Pacanowski in fine form

Whilst I still haven't gotten round to writing much about the current performances at the HWL (Hockey World League), one goalkeeper that has really stood out from the crowd has been Maciej Pacanowski. The 22 year old has been given the nod by coaching staff to take over at the helm after the days of Mariusz Chyla and is already making a big impression on the big stage.

Whilst he still has bits to work on, he has shown the mental strength and confidence to look comfortable playing at this level and helping Poland to where they have reached so far only spells great hope for the future. Against Australia, seen as the world's best in the game right now, he came up trumps (albeit undone by some pinpoint drag flicks), and should be the backbone of the team going forward. I can really see the squad go from strength to strength with him at the centre, just like David Harte shoring up the back for Ireland and pushing them forward in the country's development.
