Canterbury call on Triggs

Having made the effort to claim the services of an up and coming goalkeeping star in their young French goalkeeper Edgar Reynaud, it seems strange that Canterbury are still rotating their goalkeepers to ill effect. With little other options around (Cowling having left etc.), the Kent side had no alternative but to turn to their greybeard goalkeeper Simon Triggs, who has been registered in the official team list as an insurance policy. Up until now, that has been the case, but the squad have deemed fit that the time is right for him to get some starts to try and rebalance the ship. Thus making him the oldest starting Premier league goalkeeper right now at 43!

Triggs notably has had international experience in his playing career, along with seasons at the top level, and Canterbury are hoping he can ignite a spark to see his side surge out of the relegation zone.

For such a tall guy, it is noticable that his ready stance at such a compact approach sees him lose 'visible surface area' (couldn't think of a suitable phrase; i.e. standing out would see him cover more seeable shootign space!) and requires a more split save, extensive approach. Whilst his veteran status helps calm the defence, it appears his technique needs a little tinkering with and adapting to offer the same abilities as a modern-taught goalkeeper.
