Quite old news now really, but Amy Tran (now Amy Tran-Swensen because she got married not long before the London Olympics!) has retired from international hockey. Having held onto the number 1 jersey for the US for two Olympic campaigns; Beijing and London, she will obviously pave the way for the next crop of American goalkeeping talent coming through. Widely regarded as one of the best in the world with her quick footwork and athleticism, she raised the profile for shorter goalkeepers (taller being seen as best more often than not) as well as the bar for American talent. Will be widely missed but I guess at some point she had to hang up the pads, being 32!
