5000 reads

So, as I said I would, I just want to declare to the world that this teenie weenie blog has reached 5000 reads this past weekend. No thanks to you: the readers! So, thanks! Very much. Honestly. I didn't think anyone would ever read it and now I'm worried the writing is lacking!

With this blog, as opposed to the others I write for, I can track stats and see who is reading it from where in the world. So, at least I can tell that people are reading it, potentially enjoying it, and in numbers! With hockey being seen as so niche and goalkeeping even more so within that, it's good and nice to see the level of engagement and interest. I started this off because there is nothing out there like this and not because I want to be read, but because I want people to know! About goalkeepers (within the elite!)! And give hockey goalkeepers the same level of coverage as "mainstream" sports!! Goalkeepers like knowing about other goalkeepers and the elite ones, so this is a platform to do so!! And, also for practising analysis regards goalie performances!

And I also hope you don't mind the tone or style of writing. I have a degree in it but I prefer the openness of  Gonzo journalism (writing with personal truths, how you see things versus objective truth, because, what's true any more?!) for the way I can write about goalkeeping news and views. With life commitments, hockey and writing commitments, if I write more seriously it takes more time to copyedit and think wisely about the words to use for specific meanings etc. But by writing honestly without a need for seriousnsess I can write more quickly with similar sincerity. Plus, I think it makes it more relatable!

But, anyway, yeah, I've managed 5000 reads and moving into the next thousand. I think the only time I'll be able to blog about this kind of thing, is when it reaches 10,000 or 7,500 but no idea how long that will take! Onwards and upwards into the future!!!
