Carr and Millington switch to tube style rhps

Not that it's earth shaking news or anything in the goalie world! But being a little nerdy when it comes to gear and always considering options (just to gain more knowledge and consider options!), something of note in the EHL is the switch made by Phil Carr and Tom Millington have switched from the larger faced blocking rhp's to the tube style ones. Carr used to use a TK rhp a few years back with Oxted and in the GBSL but then whilst at Loughborough switched to the Obo hi control. Seemingly toing and froing between the two designs, he was wearing the newly available Mercian cross-continental style rhp last season but after wearing Mercian for a season is back in Obo and with the hi control. Millington on the other hand, for as long as I've been following his progression, has always used the Hi Rebound larger face Obo rhp, from his time at Loughborough and then Exeter.

It is interesting to consider the advantages over the other style of glove, especially when down low, blocking with a dive on a drag flick at a corner, connecting with floor shots or clearing with the stick and tackling, but personally, I think this can be done by a change of technique rather than change of glove. Can't know the personal preference and reasoning, but weirdly intrigued nonetheless!
