Stockmann showed his abilities, illustrating the fact that he is starting to develop into a world class talent, making some cracking saves, including stopping a penalty flick by Dwyer with great anticipation to block with the leg to his right. Charter started ahead of Bazeley, although they split halves again, getting into confusion with his defender that allowed the Dutch goal. In the end, Australia went away champions against the Olympian silver medalists.
Butt conceded between the legs on India's first short corner, whilst Potunuri conceded on a goal through him between leg and arm and went the wrong way against a drag flick at one of Pakistan's corners. Pakistan switched keepers with their second choice coming on late to concede on a corner again.
Reuss started for Germany in their classification match against Belgium, conceding his second as he was arguably unsighted and unsure what to do. Vanasch was beaten by a deflection and some well worked team goals, although could have done better to intercept a pass and got caught out of goal, leaving an open goal for the Germans to shoot into. Reuss nearly got to the flick he faced and went down to leave the top of his goal open.
Manchester started in goal for New Zealand as they got under way in the final classification match. Pinner did well to close down Burrows early, and conceded after a defensive breakdown. Manchester was beaten through the legs on a deflection for England's second goal, with Pinner sitting to deep on the equaliser. The deflection at the final corner proved to be England's downfall as they picked up the wooden spoon.
