Literally! Title suggests it all really. Bit of a boring insight, unless you're a kit obsessive/nerd (like moi!) but seems like an interesting twist (not sure you can get a pun out of that or not?!). I think the theory must be that it allows greater flexiblity around the elbow joint, versus the usual way of wearing them facing out and forward with the padding in the middle which could see bunching and possible loss of movement when worn that way, but instead, is turned outward, whilst keeping protection a the outer side of the elbow for anything in close when sliding out to block etc. The shaping of the arms also sees more movement for glove use, so that the ends don't infringe or restrict the hands when making those important glove saves.
I think the arms are worn in conjuction with the TK chest pad that Cortes also uses (the big - now- old blue one). The jersey he wears looks pretty tight fit and would keep the arm pads in place well.
