Germany's current second choice goalkeeper Reuss seems to be the only international who has graduated directly from U21's action recently around the hockey community. Of course Blaak did so a little while ago and Hayward impressed enough to get a chance with Australia A, but no-one else has really done so! This sees him essentially leapfrog Crefelder's Sakowsky who played well in the 2009 JWC. That's quite something and having played in last year's Champions Trophy in Australia, he looks like he is a sure fire inclusion for the German national team in years to come. Composed and assured for someone playing beyond his years, with a strong talent base to work from, he could go pretty far, so it's on his shoulders whether he wants to put the work in!
Here you can see him in action in last year's European tournament games, with some of his usual impressive save making at short corners, demonstrating aggressive and attacking play, with strong patience and positioning as he blocks from a standing position:
Edit: in writing this I just realised Chris Rea obviously went straight from USA U21's action to full men's team games in the World League round in Brazil. So Reuss isn't on his own in that!!
