As expected (read somewhere that Fair wasn't making the trip to London), Smith got the start for Cannock against HWHC in the cup game. Good chance to get some game experience, as he waits his chance behind the Olympian, although he did start against Surbiton in a league game this season. Getting the chance to deputise for Fair, he kept the score tied but couldn't do much (with flicks being a tough call) to stop enough flicks, meaning Hampstead went through. Think it was 4-1 to the Londoners. Also looks like things got a little verbal between the two goalkeepers during the sudden death 'shootout' (not sure what the hockey translation is for spot flicks!).
