Olympics review

Men's
Whilst there was a lot of world class goalkeeping on display at the Olympics, there was no real standout number one elite goalkeeper so to speak. In short, there was no Vogels or Mason to write home about. Vanasch should be a solid pick for Rio to perform well, showing displays of brilliance as to why he was selected to backstop his home nation. Pieterse showed he is a strong goalkeeper, doing better than Hibbert to limit the drubbing against Australia. I don't think Fair will be happy with his last performances (which could be a psychological problem and the pressure got to much) and neither will Burgers. Whilst Weinhold came up with some important displays, he make quite a few errors occuring from foot placement, whilst Stockmann seemed to want to overplay shots and act acrobatically unnecessarily.

Women's
Again, there was no real incredible goalkeeper in the women's games. Toni Cronk however did incredibly well to record clean sheets and did all she could to help her team progress (but to no avail), whilst Beth Storry should be able to return happily having achieved a medal winning placement in bronze.
