Akbar makes switch to Obo hi rebound rhp

Noteworthy enough considering his playing style and its evolution, Salman Akbar, has gone over to the larger, blocking profile of the Obo hi rebound right hand glove/protector. After playing with the tube style hi control for so long, it's interesting to see him finally make the switch. Playing in the Hoofdklasse for Laren for some time now he is making the most of his playing experience to play in arguably the toughest league in Europe, if not in the world. With Imran Shah and Imran Butt both competing for the Pakistan number one spot, I'm not sure what Akbar's status is.

Butt himself uses the hi rebound but switches at corners for the hi control, as seen in last year's Champions Trophy tournament, which is interesting to consider. Something that George Pinner used to do in national premier league games with Beeston a while back now: the idea being of being able to correspond the eye line of seeing the ball in, and turning the hand with the profile of the control glove, versus the way the hi rebound is held (and hi rebound requires a change in technique of turning the hand to rotate the glove to block properly).

Here you can see him in action with the Dutch team Laren:
