Stubbings dropped, Cowling starts

So as sneaky journalism (journalists are like ninjas!) suggested it last weekend, but Twitter (for the win!) looks to be becoming pretty useful as a journalistic tool for following games and keeping up with the EHL and its goalies, has confirmed that Cowling is currently getting the starts for Canterbury. Which is pretty interesting as it suggests that Stubbings' form of late has meant the coaching staff are a little uneasy about things, and rather than start him for being the only or conceivable choice (this often does happen in a lot of sports and at the professional level; Reina for example has been really sub-par compared to his normal self for Liverpool in the footie), has to earn it. Interesting to see a strong team changing goalkeepers so far into the season and hopefully Stubbings will bounce back and regain his level of play. Not sure how it will affect his confidence.

Personally, I would like to think Reading would do the same as they break in new starter Bailey as he gets accustomed to the premier league. It's important to have competition and battle for your starts rather than get comfortable, regards complacency, but of course, some goalkeepers prefer a run of games to bed in and get happy with the pressures of the level and making the starter's jersey their own, so all about man management as a coach I think.

Here's the Twitter feed snapshot:
