Singh comes back from freak injury

Baljit Singh, the Indian international goalkeeper, was injured nearly four years ago in a freak accident that involved India's goalkeeping coaches experimenting with the idea of using golf balls as a means of practising reflexes. It seemed a good idea at the time, but with the size of the ball (able to get through a helmet cage as it unfortunately did) and the speed of a golf shot, Singh ended up with a ruptured eye ball. Surgical attempts were made in America to fix the serious effects but managed to do little; the saddest thing being that the sporting set-up would not assist with payments.

Amazingly enough and testament to his self belief and desire to continue playing rather than quit. He was included in the preliminary team training (which includes a LOT of goalkeepers compared to other nations!!) but felt ostracised because of his injury. I honestly have no idea how you'd managed to play with only visibility in one eye, so it's something to be commended!
