Like Chelmsford, Kimber's playing career seemed to peeter away and tilter off. I read/heard that he was supposed to be at Southgate although he was registered for Canterbury three seasons ago. Shame to see talent go to waste, but with competition for places in the national league so tight and with incumbents having already made a name for themselves, it isn't like he has much of a chance to get back into the thick of things unfortunately. Stranger things have happened but being a goalkeeper can be a precacious choice of positions for various reasons such as this!
A blog for and about hockey goalkeepers and goalkeeping, trying to expand their coverage, given what a niche market it is! Was a little disappointed that there is nothing like this around so thought I'd have a bash at remedying that! Written with a slightly Gonzo journalistic approach. Thoughts and analysis of the elite. All opinions are my own; can't be bothered with anyone else's after all!

What happened to Kimber?
The story of Adrian Kimber is one often found in sport. In sport you have to be the top of your game all the time and constantly developing otherwise you will fall back in the pecking order and someone working harder than you and developing that talent will overtake you. It has oft been said that Kimber was considered the future of English goalkeeping (among others of course!) way back when. Kimber was playing for Chelmsford in the first division of the England Hockey League (before it was reformed to the conferences and premier league; forgive me if I got it wrong!) who didn't have a great season which probably didn't help with scouting etc. (Chelmsford are now in the East premier league after demotion from the national league east conference).
