Coates playing at HWHC

Hamish Coates has joined Hampstead and Westminster in the National Premier League and started in their game against Beeston. Interestingly Scanlon took over and they drew the game. Coates is no stranger to playing in England, having played for Wimbledon in the East Conference after the promotion winning season (first season in the national league) and HWHC seem to have good links with being able to bring over Australian players of a high calibre.

Interesting move as Ian Scanlon has been the starter for coming up to four seasons after taking over from former Welsh international Simkins at the age of 21, having had experience playing for GBU21s. HWHC have had two extra goalkeepers registered before for the season, with a youngster benching, so this should free up room for an outfield player as well as increase their depths and options as they push for a long cup run etc.

Saw pictures of Coates that inspired me to find out who the keeper was and the Atlas stick gave it away as being an Aussie goalie (can't think of any English keepers using an Atlas stick!) and checking out the England Hockey website transfer list proved it.
