A blog for and about hockey goalkeepers and goalkeeping, trying to expand their coverage, given what a niche market it is! Was a little disappointed that there is nothing like this around so thought I'd have a bash at remedying that! Written with a slightly Gonzo journalistic approach. Thoughts and analysis of the elite. All opinions are my own; can't be bothered with anyone else's after all!

The Scot's depth
With the retirement of Ali McGregor from international goalkeeper, questions were raised over who would take over his reins. Mark Fulton (Kelburne) was called up to the national squad, with Phil Carr (Oxted) making his full international debut in the international tournament in 2011. Since then, James Cachia, who moved to Sheffield to get starting opportunities in national league, along with Allan Dick who moved from Surbiton to Holcombe, have been reinstalled, battling it out for the starting spot. Blair Fotheringham (at Durham) and Sean Hadfield (Grange) are both coming through from the U21s, with Tommy Alexander (Surbiton) a former U21 international also in the ranks. As Dick and Fulton come to the latter years of their hockey careers, it will be interesting to see how things play out as the future becomes the present in relation to the next generation of goalkeepers, with competition being close, with Carr, Alexander and Fotheringham all having had GB Super league experience.
