A blog for and about hockey goalkeepers and goalkeeping, trying to expand their coverage, given what a niche market it is! Was a little disappointed that there is nothing like this around so thought I'd have a bash at remedying that! Written with a slightly Gonzo journalistic approach. Thoughts and analysis of the elite. All opinions are my own; can't be bothered with anyone else's after all!

Bailey takes over at Reading
New signing James Bailey has taken the starting spot from Jamie Legg, having being the first choice in recent games. His athleticism is obviously an upgrade but being so young and not having had to compete for a spot, I'm not sure if will perform to what is perceived to be his best. I think he has improved since the Junior World Cup in 2009, where he condeded nine against India and wasn't great at corners, but will be interesting how quickly he develops to the top domestic league in England. It will also be interesting to see how the England U21 international will perform in his first taste of Euro Hockey League action next week over at East Grinstead. He has made a few decisive saves in each start, enough to earn the points at Southgate but not enough to stop the score against Canterbury.
